The conch shell symbolizes civilization. It's important because it makes things less chaotic. Things becomes   easier when they use the conch shell.   Any of the boys can use it. They mostly use it to speak without being interrupted for the expectation of Ralph. Ralph uses the conch shell to call a meeting or as they call it an assembly.

Dear Diary, So today I landed in a type of land full of nice trees. I'm assuming it is a jungle. And I met a new friend, his name is Ralph. We found a shell that makes a weird a noise and that's how we found the other kids. I think most of them are younger than me. Because they seem childish. And there is a kid name named Jack. I don't like him because he's always bothering me and treats me poorly from everybody else. We needed a leader so everyone voted. Majority rules won. When ralph became the leader Jack was furious. The first Ralph wanted us to do was make a fire to get rescued. We made a fire with smoke coming out.   To make the fire have smoke comin gout we used green branches.And they had to use my glasses to get the reflection. Then everybody was saying that I didn't help. Only Simon stood up for me. And now we think there is a snake or a pig out in the wild. We didn't find any adults on the island yet. And now we're starting to look for food.  

William Goldling's life was affected after D-day. The Normandy landings were the landing operations on   June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. The reason why Goldling question everything about the goodness of mankind because he thought why do we have to fight each other. Why are we put on earth to kill. And after that day of watching people instantly/slowly dying it made him rethink everything. Yes I think man is born with good. People learn through put their years how/to be barbaric. No I don’t think man is born barbaric because babies aren't born out of the blue with selfishness. Through their lifestyle they learn from their surroundings. They learn how to be savages. Through out their lives people become more selfish and cold hearted.
